The privilege of photography has always been to position the artist at the crossroad of two different worlds: one of “translators” serving commissions, another one of "inventors» dedicated to creativity.Nathalie Darbellay has developed her work in both worlds of image creation: meeting imperatives received from Sponsors and Institutions as well as conducting research and creating new visions and of her own.
As a commissioned Photographer she has accumulated an impressive catalogue of prestigious Institutional and private Sponsors mostly in the area of Architecture but also several other subjects such as outstanding personalities of the Art, Business and Political world. (See biography categories).
As a creator Nathalie Darbellay has always been extremely motivated by the specificities of the photography medium and developed her own vision of Men in the World, about Life and Nature. Her work has been exhibited in a great number of exhibitions, both solo and with others, in galleries, museums and specific cultural environments (see biography and categories).
Both worlds of creativity are linked by Nathalie Darbellay’s very special vision , yet they reveal two very distinct but parallel tracks.
Le privilège de la photographie a toujours eu de positionner son opérateur aux confins de deux situations : celui de « traducteur » au service de la commande et celui d’ « inventeur » voué à la création.
Nathalie Darbellay obéit à cette lignée de fabriquants d’images qui répondent à ces impératifs venus de l’extérieur autant que de la nécessité d’inventer une nouvelle vision et une recherche qui lui est propre.
Photographe de missions et de commandes, elle a accumulé un catalogue de prestigieux commanditaires institutionnels et privés : Ministères, entreprises privées, personnalités artistiques, artisanales, industrielles ou politiques. (cf biographie et catégories).
Animées aussi par la spécificité de son médium, Nathalie Darbellay a su développer un regard photographique sur les hommes et les objets, sur la vie et la matière qui relève d’une démarche spécifique que de nombreuses expositions personnelles de galeries, de musées et d’espaces culturels sont venus affirmer (cf biographie et catégories).
L’un comme l’autre sont indissociables dans sa recherche et pourtant l’un comme l’autre se déclinent comme deux voies parallèles.
